Hi, I'm Boo. Nice to meet you. If you’re reading this, you probably have a soft spot for black cats like me. And rightly so. 

But let me tell you something... And I know it might be hard to believe... So just hold on tight. Black cats have the lowest adoption rate (10%) and the highest euthanasia rate (74.6%) of any coat color, meaning we are often the very last to leave a cage, simply because of the color of our fur.

I’ve been through all of it. Born on the streets left to fight for myself, sat in those dim shelter kennels for forty-seven days while families walked right past my cage without a glance on to other colored cats, and seen perfectly loveable black cats get passed over just because of ancient, flat-earth superstitions.

I know what it feels like to be treated like a ghost before you even get a chance to show who you really are inside (where it matters!!).

Eventually, I left the shelter the same way I'd lived before it — on my own terms. Found a human eventually. Or let one find me. The details are private actually. What matters is that somewhere along the way, we realized we had a platform and a point to make.

Made With Purrpose was created with a clear mission: to end black cat bias by bringing awareness through clothing, and to directly give back to the cats who need our help the most. Every single piece in our collections features original designs created by the human who adopted me, made specifically to highlight your identity as a proud cat parent, and give you a way to wear your love for black cats proudly on your sleeve. The goal is simple: when you wear our pieces out into the world, you create visibility. You start conversations. This is what we hope will make a change in the world for black cats.

If enough of us stand together and change the visual narrative, the rest of the world will finally start looking at black cats in a different light. We can shift these shelter numbers. We can make sure every single house panther out there gets the equal opportunity, the safety, and the love they deserve.
